I was drawn to visual media while a teenager living in Germany where my father served in the U.S. Military. My German photo instructor sparked in me a love of the craft, and an appreciation of the rewards of creating visual statements for others to see.
My passion for photography soon evolved from a simple hobby into my profession as an adult – I have worked in studio portraiture, documentary photography, and, for 7 years at the University of California, I instructed graduate students in technical/scientific photography.
My varied photography experience has served me well in my transition to video production and to teaching video and photography skills at the Media Center.
I love teaching students by communicating to them my enduring passion for the visual arts. I take great joy in encouraging their learning and growth so that they can realize their vision for storytelling.
